Somewhere behind a bookshelf that doesn't quite look like all the others, in a tall old house called Hollowmere Manor, a small friendly ghost named Inkling has just one task tonight: find the comfiest page in the comfiest book, and fall completely asleep.

This is the first episode of Hollowmere Manor — a new Midnight Library anthology series of cozy (never scary) Halloween bedtime tales, one resident of the manor at a time. A calm 2-hour story with a gentle voice and an original lullaby theme, made for anyone who wants a Halloween atmosphere that still helps them drift off.

Hollowmere Manor is our Halloween-season companion to History for Sleep, Sleep Stories, and our Gentle Tales bedtime series — ten planned episodes, each visiting a different cozy-spooky resident of one big old house: a ghost in the library, a witch in the greenhouse, a vampire in the wine cellar, and more.

Two hours, built like a lullaby

Rather than one long unbroken story, this episode is built like a song — a handful of gentle verses about Inkling's quiet evening, and a soft repeating chorus, cycling for about two hours before drifting into candlelight fading, the house settling for the night, and moonrise.
